The “Kang Hoi” is a specialized marine research vessel custom-built for Xiamen University. The vessel measures 77.7 meters in length, with abeam of 16.24 meters and a maximum draft of 5.5 meters, and has a gross tonnage (GT) of 3,517. It can accommodate 54 crew members and researchers and is designed for unrestricted navigation. The vessel is primarily used for scientific investigations in marine geology, marine biology, hydrology, and related fields. Constructed by Guangzhou Shipyard International, the vessel was officially delivered in March 2017and is classed by theChina Classification Society (CCS).

As the turnkey contractor for the vessel’s accommodation areas, KAM provided comprehensive interior outfitting services covering all living quarters and research support spaces. The scope included cabin outfitting, furniture installation, acoustic insulation, as well as electrical and HVAC system integration. The design fully accommodates the vessel’s scientific operational requirements and long-duration missions at sea, creating a stable, efficient, and comfortable working and living environment for onboard researchers and crew.
